This detailed guide will walk you through the entire pool construction process, highlighting why Green Creation stands out as the premier choice for your pool project.

1. Initial Consultation and Site Assessment

Personalized Consultation

The journey to your dream pool begins with an initial consultation. At pool maintenance companies in dubai , we take the time to understand your vision, preferences, and requirements. This consultation allows us to gather crucial information about your desired pool type, size, shape, and features.

A conversation is the first step to a good pool.

The first thing you do is meet with your builder or designer. This is when you tell the builder what you want the pool to look like, how big you want it to be, what shape you want it to be, and any special features like lights or heating.

Your builder will also look at your yard and note any problems that might come up, like slopes, the type of ground, or how easy it is to get to.

Before any digging can start, this stage is all about listening and understanding.

Comprehensive Site Assessment

A thorough site assessment is conducted to evaluate the space, soil conditions, and any potential challenges. Our experts analyze factors such as site accessibility, sun exposure, and landscape features. This assessment helps us develop a customized plan that maximizes the potential of your outdoor space.

2. Design and Planning

Custom Pool Design

The design team will make detailed plans once the main idea is in place.

These plans show exactly how the pool will look, where the walls and steps will go, how deep the water will be, and how the pool will fit into your yard or garden.

A lot of businesses now use 3D drawings so you can see what the pool will look like before we start working on it. This helps you make changes early, when they are the easiest and least expensive.

Planning where pipes, drains, filters, and electrical systems will go is also a part of good design.

Based on the information gathered during the consultation and site assessment, our design team creates a custom pool design tailored to your needs. Using advanced software, we produce detailed plans and 3D renderings, allowing you to visualize the final result. Our designs incorporate both functionality and aesthetics, ensuring a perfect blend with your home and landscape.

Planning and Approvals

Once the design is finalized, we handle all necessary planning and approvals. This includes obtaining permits from local authorities and ensuring compliance with Dubai’s building codes and regulations. Green Creation’s extensive experience with local regulations streamlines this process, minimizing delays.

3. Excavation and Groundwork

Site Preparation

The real work starts after the design is approved.

The first physical job is to get the site ready. This means cleaning up the area and marking where the pool will go.

Next, digging begins. Machines carefully dig the hole for your pool. The shape and depth must be exactly what the design calls for. This is done quickly and safely by experienced operators.

This step lays the groundwork for the rest of the project.

4. Structural Work

Once the hole is ready, builders add structural support.

Steel bars are placed inside the excavated area. These bars make the pool strong and prevent cracks or movement in the future.

At the same time, plumbers and electricians start installing pipes and wiring. These will later connect to filters, pumps, lights, and other systems that keep the pool clean and safe.

This phase is technical but very important for long-lasting performance.

5. Concrete Shell

Shotcrete or Gunite Application

After the supports are in place, concrete is poured to make the pool shell.

When builders use strong concrete mixtures, we spray or carefully place them where they need to go. This becomes the shell that keeps water in and stops the ground from moving.

It is important to let the concrete cure after it is in place. This means controlling it and keeping it wet, so it gets strong and stable. You need to be patient because rushing this step can lead to cracks later.

6. Waterproofing and Tiling

Waterproofing

For a pool to work, it needs mechanical systems.

Professionals put in the pumps, filters, heaters, and circulation systems. These systems keep the water clean, moving, and healthy by keeping it balanced.

A lot of new pools also have automation. With simple phone apps, you can now control the lights, the temperature, and the cleaning systems.

7. Equipment Installation

8. Landscaping and Surrounding Features

After the pool is finished, the area around it gets a lot of attention.

This includes putting down paving or decking, planting trees or shrubs, adding lighting, and making places to sit. The goal is to make the whole area feel like an outdoor living space.

To make their backyards even more inviting, some homeowners add things like outdoor kitchens, fire pits, or shaded lounges.

9. Final Inspection and Handover

The pool builder does a final check before you can use the pool.

We check every part of the pool for safety and quality. We make any changes that need to be made before handing over.

Your builder should also show you how everything works, like how to use the systems, when to clean, and how to take care of things.

You can ask questions now so you can feel good about using your pool.

It’s not enough to just dig a hole and fill it with water to build a pool. It takes design knowledge, engineering, following local rules, and careful building by skilled workers.

A good business will:

• Hear what you have to say
• Make each step clear
• Follow the rules for safety and building codes in your area.
• Use good materials and work well
• Help you both during and after the building process

This whole process makes sure that your pool is safe, looks great, and will last a long time. Below we will go through each step in more detail.

What You Need To Know

Building a pool is one of the best things you can do as a homeowner in Dubai. In the summer, when temperatures often reach 45°C, having your own private pool goes from being a nice thing to have to a must-have. But a lot of people don’t really know how to make one the right way, legally, and to a standard that will last until they’re in the middle of it.

For years, Green Creation has been building pools all over Dubai. We’ve worked on every kind of project you can think of, from small plunge pools in the gardens of small villas to huge infinity pools with views of the Gulf. We know how to get a permit, deal with tough soil, follow the rules of the neighborhood, and build in the best way for this area. Before the first shovel hits the ground, we want to tell you what we know so you know what to expect.

If you’re thinking about getting a pool or have already talked to a few builders, read this all the way through. It will save you a lot of time, trouble, and money.

Why Pool Construction in Dubai Isn’t Like Anywhere Else

You know that things don’t always go the same way in Dubai if you’ve lived there for a while. Building pools is the same way. When you build a pool here, there are some things that are very different from when you build one in Europe or the UK.

A lot of Dubai’s land is sandy and not very stable. That changes how the digging, the base work, and the way the pool structure needs to be made stronger. In some places, you’ll hit rock not far below the surface, which makes it harder to dig and requires special tools. Groundwater in coastal areas is salty and hard on concrete. Because of this, sealing needs more attention here than in most other places.

The heat is a different story. Dubai gets direct UV light all the time, so things that aren’t made for this kind of weather will fade, crack, or break down in just a few years. Also, the chemical and filter systems have to work harder because warm water makes bacteria and algae grow faster. That’s why the equipment specs are so important.

Finally, the government and rules are different for each neighborhood in Dubai. The Dubai Development Authority, the Dubai Municipality, or Trakhees, which is in charge of places like Palm Jumeirah, are all in charge of these places. They all have their own rules about setbacks, permits, and inspections. If you don’t do this right from the start, it will take a long time to finish, and you might even get a fine and have to tear down the building.

Green Creation works in all of these places every day. We know who is in charge of each area, what paperwork they need, and how to get approvals the fastest. If you want to get your pool built quickly and without a lot of red tape, it helps to know a lot about the area.

Step 1: Deciding What Kind of Pool You Want

The first real step is to decide what kind of pool you want. This affects everything that comes after it, including cost, time, planning freedom, and long-term maintenance.

Concrete pools are the best option for Dubai homes, and there are good reasons for this. They can be any shape, size, or depth you want. Do you want a shape that isn’t symmetrical and is freeform? Do you want one side to be shallow so people can swim and the other side to be deep so people can dive? That can be done with concrete. But they cost more and take longer to build (12 to 16 weeks just to build). They also need to be taken care of on a regular basis to stay in good shape. Even when it is covered, the concrete surface needs to be chemically cleaned often.

It is possible to make fiberglass pools off-site as a single shell, which is then moved into place by crane or lowering. They go down faster than concrete, and the smooth, non-porous surface keeps algae away better on its own. One issue is that you can’t make something completely unique because you have to use a list of standard sizes and shapes. People who want a good pool at a price and time they can count on often choose fiberglass.

Vinyl-lined pools are the cheapest way to get into swimming pools, but they aren’t as popular in Dubai’s residential market. You will need to replace the liner at some point, but it may happen sooner in Dubai’s hot summer than in cooler places.

This is the first thing that Green Creation always talks about with a new client. You’ll regret it if you hurry. Your pool should still fit your budget, your lifestyle, and your yard today, tomorrow, and ten years from now.

Step 2: Site Assessment and Design

Once you have a good idea of what you want, the next step is to visit the site. This is where things get unique to your home.

We don’t just look at the size of the yard when Green Creation goes to a client’s house for the first time. We check the condition of the soil, how easy it is for heavy machinery to get to it, where the utilities are buried, how far the property lines are from the house, how well the land drains, and how the sun moves through the area during the day. The plan works for everything.

The design itself makes a full set of technical drawings. These are not just pretty pictures; they are real engineering papers that show sizes, materials, pipe locations, and equipment specifications. These are the papers that were sent to the officials to get the permit. They have to be right and complete.

At this point, most clients also get 3D pictures of the pool so they can see how it will look in their yard before they pay to have it built. You can now change your mind about the shape, move the tub, change the depth, or decide whether or not you want that water feature. Once the building is started and the permits are issued, it costs a lot to make changes.

Step 3: Permits – The Stage That Tests Your Patience

People don’t like to talk about this, but in Dubai, you need a building permit before you can start building. Not an exception.

The exact agency that gives out permits depends on where you live. The Dubai Municipality is in charge of most regular neighborhoods. Trakhees is in charge of Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Islands, and other places under the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation. The Dubai Development Authority runs the areas it is in charge of in its own way.

Our customers don’t have to worry about the whole permit process because Green Creation does it all. We make sure we have all the right paperwork, send it through the right channels, and then check in with the authority. We know what each authority wants to see and how to avoid the main reasons why people get turned down because we’ve done this hundreds of times.

Usually, approvals take four to eight weeks, but they can take longer if there are a lot of complicated projects going on or if the authority is very busy. It’s frustrating to have to wait, but use this time to finish picking out your materials, agreeing on the specs for the equipment, and getting your outdoor space ready for when the building starts.

It’s important to remember to end the conversation with a contractor if they say they don’t need permits or that they’ll “sort it out later.”” Building without a permit in Dubai isn’t just a formality; it’s a real legal risk that could cost you money.

Step 4: Excavation

They got permission. Now the fun begins. Excavation is the first physical step in building, and it’s a very exciting process. Your garden goes from being flat to a big hole in the ground very quickly.

There are two main problems with the soil that teams that dig in Dubai have to deal with. The soil is sandy in many parts of the house, and while the walls of the excavation are being dug, they need to be handled with care. There is solid rock under a thin layer of sand in some places, especially farther inland. This makes the process harder and takes longer.

The hole that is dug is always a little bigger than the pool. Because there is extra space on the outside, the structural shell work, waterproofing membrane, and formwork can be put in place. It usually takes three to five days to dig up a normal pool in a house.

You need to take everything that was dug up and throw it away in the right way. Green Creation is in charge of this as part of the building process. You shouldn’t come home to find big piles of dirt in your yard.

Step 5: Steel Reinforcement

After the ground is shaped and ready, the steel support framework for concrete pools is put in place. This is the structure: rebar, which are steel bars that have been bent and tied together in a grid pattern that follows every shape and angle of your pool design.

For the pool to stay stable for a long time, the steel work needs to be of high quality. You need to spread the bars out and put them in a way that makes sure there is enough concrete around them on all sides. Steel can rust over time if you don’t cover it well enough. This is a real danger in Dubai, especially near the coast.

At this point, the right people usually check the spot before the concrete is poured. The inspector makes sure that the rebar matches the approved plans. Green Creation can handle this as part of the normal process without any problems.

Step 6: Plumbing and Electrical Rough-In

Before putting in any concrete, all the pipes and electrical wires need to be in the right place. This includes the main drain on the pool floor, the return jets that push filtered water back in, the skimmer lines that pull surface water toward the filtration system, and the wires that connect the lights. This is also when all the plumbing for built-in systems like spa jets, water features, and other things you asked for is put in.

This is one of those times when it’s very important to get it right the first time. Once the concrete is in, you can’t get to anything without breaking the shell, which is the kind of work that no one wants to do. Green Creation’s plumbing teams follow the hydraulic design to the letter, making sure that water flows smoothly from every part of the pool to the equipment room.

Step 7: Shotcrete – Building the Shell

At this point, the pool building starts to look like a real place. In Dubai, shotcrete is the most common way to build concrete pools. This is when a hose and nozzle spray concrete directly onto the framework that is holding it up at a high speed.

Shotcrete makes a very thick and strong shell that sticks very well to the rebar. This is the best way to make unique concrete pools because it works so well with curves and strange shapes. After spraying, a trained worker shapes the inside surface by hand to fill in any gaps and get the right profile.

The concrete then hardens. The structure takes about 28 days to reach full strength, but the skin hardens much faster. To keep the shell from cracking, it is kept wet while it dries. This step needs to be carefully managed in Dubai because of the high temperatures and low humidity.

Step 8: Waterproofing

This is the one step in the whole process where you can’t give in at all.

Concrete alone won’t keep water out. Water slowly moves through the shell without a proper barrier, which can damage the structure from the inside and maybe even make the ground around it sink. In Dubai, a lot of places have groundwater that is very salty and has a lot of sulfates in it. This can be very bad for concrete that isn’t covered.

Every pool that Green Creation builds comes with a safety system that is meant for professionals. The site conditions determine the materials and how they are used. For instance, what works well in a villa garden in the middle of the country might not work as well on the coast where the groundwater is acidic.

We fill the shell with water and watch it closely to make sure there is no loss that can be measured before we start the finishing work. This is called a water tightness test. This extra step takes longer, but it makes sure that none of the pools we give you leak.

Step 9: Tiles and Interior Finishing

Now the look changes. The inside of your pool is what makes it special. The color, texture, and way light moves through the water are all important. This is also the stage that everyone who swims in your pool will see and feel every day.

In Dubai’s high-end home market, glass mosaic tiles are very popular, and Green Creation often works with them. When you look at them underwater, they look amazing because they shimmer. They are also very resistant to chemicals and UV light. Porcelain tiles are another good choice. They are very hard, don’t fade, and come in a wide range of styles, from natural stone looks to sleek modern ones.

Rendered finishes with rock aggregate are another choice if a client wants a different look. These look and feel more like a resort, and the texture makes them feel good on your feet.

At this point, the pool coping (the edge cap around the edge) and decking around the pool are also put in place. Some of the materials that can be used here are travertine, natural limestone, large-format porcelain, and composite flooring. The deck should not slip, the water should drain well away from the edge of the pool, and it should be safe to use outside in direct sunlight.

Step 10: Equipment Installation

Behind every great pool is a plant room that most guests will never see. The equipment installed here determines how clean, efficient, and enjoyable your pool is to own.

When Green Creation builds a pool, we make sure it has the following equipment:

Each pool gets a pump that is made just for it, based on its size and the way the pipes are set up. More and more people are using variable speed pumps because they use a lot less energy than single-speed pumps. This is a big deal when the pump is used every day.

Filtration cleans the water by removing dirt and other particles. Because they work well, most private pools in Dubai use sand filters. You could also use cartridge filters, which don’t use as much water when you backwash them.

You can use your pool longer in the fall and winter if you heat it up. In Dubai’s climate, heat pumps are the best choice for saving energy because they move heat from the air to water and use a lot less electricity than direct electric heaters.

When you put salt in water, it quickly makes chlorine. This keeps the water clean without having to add chemicals by hand all the time. The water also feels softer than water in pools that are usually cleaned.

You can use a smartphone app to control the pool’s lights, temperature, and pump schedule, among other things, thanks to smart controls and automation. Clients who want their pool to be ready for them when they get home, with the right temperature and lights on, should have this feature.

Only qualified electricians who follow all of Dubai’s rules for electrical safety can install electricity.

Step 11: Fencing, Decking, and Landscaping

The structure of the pool is done, but the outside is still not done. The landscaping and work around the edges bring everything together and turn the building site back into a garden, which is much better than it was before.

You have to have a pool fence in Dubai, and you can’t get around it. The law says that every pool must have a wall that is at least 1.2 meters high and gates that close and latch on their own, open outward, and have no holes that a child could fit through. In Dubai’s high-end housing market, glass fences are now the norm because they meet safety standards and don’t block the view of the pool from inside the house.

The decking around the pool needs to be put in the right way, with the right slopes for draining, a surface that won’t slip, and materials that can handle being in water, sun, and pool chemicals all the time. Green Creation uses travertine, large-format porcelain, and real stone all the time because they are popular.

The plants, lights, and shade structures around the pool area make a big difference in how useful and welcoming the space feels every day. A pool surrounded by carefully chosen plants and good lighting is an outdoor room. If there’s nothing around a pool but concrete, it’s just a big tank of water.

Step 12: Final Inspection and Handover

The right people check the project before it is considered finished to make sure it matches the approved permit drawings and meets all safety standards, especially the pool fence. Green Creation sets up this inspection and makes sure the place is ready for it.

Before we give you the pool, we show you how to use the pump schedule, change the chlorinator, read the system if something doesn’t look right, and what the goal chemical parameters are. We don’t just hand you a key and go.

You will also get warranties for the pool’s construction and all of the equipment that was put in. Put these papers somewhere you can easily get to.

Pool Maintenance – Protecting Your Investment Long-Term

Green Creation really cares about these kinds of things, and a lot of people forget to do them. During the summer, a pool in Dubai will turn green in just a few days if it isn’t cleaned. The water’s chemistry, the plan for filter backwashing, and the upkeep of the equipment all need to be the same.

People all over Dubai can get full pool maintenance plans from Green Creation. Our maintenance teams do it all: they test the water and balance the chemicals every day, clean and backwash the filters, check and service the equipment, brush the tiles, and do deep cleans every so often. We can spot problems like a loose fitting, a broken pump seal, or a filter that has reached the end of its useful life before they need costly repairs.

We can make a care plan for you and your pool that works for you, whether you want a weekly visit or a full-service monthly contract. Most of our customers let us take care of their pools because they always look great and they don’t have to worry about them.

How Long Does Pool Construction Take in Dubai?

Let’s be direct about this because unrealistic timelines cause more frustration than almost anything else on a construction project.

From the moment you engage Green Creation to the day you swim, a realistic end-to-end timeline for a custom concrete pool looks like this:

– Design and documentation: 2 to 3 weeks
– Permit submission and approval: 4 to 8 weeks
– Excavation: 3 to 5 days
– Rebar, plumbing, electrical rough-in: 1 to 2 weeks
– Shotcrete and curing: 4 to 6 weeks
– Waterproofing and testing: 1 to 2 weeks
– Tiling and interior finishing: 2 to 4 weeks
– Equipment installation: 1 week
– Decking, fencing, and landscaping: 2 to 4 weeks

Total construction time (after permit approval): approximately 12 to 16 weeks. Total project time from first consultation to first swim: typically 4 to 6 months for a custom concrete pool. Fiberglass pools can be completed faster once permits are in hand.

Anyone quoting you 6 weeks for a complete custom concrete pool is either planning to skip steps or hasn’t done many pools in Dubai. Green Creation is transparent about timelines because we’d rather set expectations correctly upfront than manage disappointment later.

What Does a Pool Cost in Dubai in 2026?

Costs vary significantly based on size, type, and specification. Here’s an honest guide:

Entry-level fiberglass or simple concrete pool: AED 60,000 to AED 100,000

Mid-range concrete pool (good size, quality tiles, standard features): AED 100,000 to AED 250,000

Premium custom pool (infinity edge, glass mosaic, heating, automation, water features): AED 250,000 to AED 500,000+

Rooftop pools (additional waterproofing and structural engineering required): starting from AED 150,000 to AED 200,000

Green Creation provides fully detailed, itemised quotations so you can see exactly what you’re paying for. No hidden costs, no surprises mid-project. Permit fees are included in our project costs and we’re transparent about every line item.

For ongoing maintenance, expect to budget AED 800 to AED 1,700 per month for a standard residential pool under a Green Creation maintenance contract — covering everything so you never have to think about it.

Why Homeowners Across Dubai Choose Green Creation

A lot of businesses in Dubai work with pools. Some are really good. Not all of them are. What makes Green Creation different is that our clients tell us that these things are the most important.

We have built more pools in more Dubai neighborhoods than almost any other company. That experience shows in how we do every job. We know how to get permits in different places and which waterproofing system works best in different types of soil, for instance. We don’t learn anything from your project.

We handle everything from the design to getting the permits, building, landscaping, and regular maintenance all in one place. You only need to talk to one person the whole time, and that person is always available. There shouldn’t be any blaming between workers when something needs to be fixed.

We’ve always been upfront about fees and when they are due. We’ll let you know if changing a material in your plan could lower the cost of building. We will also let you know if your deadline is too short because of the permit process. We stay in touch with our clients after the job is done. For example, many of the pools we manage in Dubai are ones we built years ago.

Last but not least, we let the work speak for itself. We can set up a time for you to come see a Green Creation pool in person. To see our collection, go to www.green-creation.com or call us to set up a free meeting and site visit.

A Few Mistakes Worth Avoiding

Before we finish, here are the most common mistakes we see homeowners make when they try to do the work themselves or have a bad experience with another contractor:

Beginning to build before the permits are approved. In Dubai, the punishments are severe: fines, stop-work orders, and the cost of fixing the problem. Don’t let anyone start working until you say it’s okay.

When you pick the lowest quote, you don’t know what’s in it. A lot of the time, low prices don’t cover things like landscaping, permit fees, the waterproofing test, or equipment that doesn’t meet the standards. Always compare quotes for the same job and make sure you know what each one includes when you get rates.

Not doing maintenance. If you don’t take care of a well-built pool, it will break down faster than a cheaper one. From the beginning, you should plan for maintenance and think of it as part of the cost of owning something.

Not thinking about how much it costs to run. It costs a lot of money to run a pool pump every day. Check to see if you can get a pump that works at different speeds. You’ll quickly save money on energy costs that will cover the extra cost.

Trying to speed up the sealing. It costs a lot to fix a pool that leaks, and it’s very annoying. It means draining, breaking through the finish, sealing again, and doing the inside all over again. You should do something right the first time if you want to do it right.

Ready to Build Your Pool in Dubai?
