Infinity Pools in Dubai: Design, Construction, and Maintenance

What Is an Infinity Pool?

An infinity pool is also known as a negative-edge or vanishing-edge pool. It’s a pool that’s designed to make one or more of its sides appear to have no visible edge. Water tumbles over a neatly leveled weir at the edge of the pool, dropping into a catch basin below. Then, water is pumped back from this catch basin into the main pool. The flowing edge appears to blend with the view beyond—ocean, sky, cityscape, or landscape—when looking out from the house or from inside the pool.

The Engineering of Infinity Pools

The Weir: The weir is the edge where the water flows over to create the infinity effect. It has to be perfectly level all the way—a few millimeters of variation will cause water to flow unevenly, creating visible high and low spots, which kill the visual effect. One of the main technical challenges of building an infinity pool is to set and maintain this level during and after the construction process.

The Catch Basin: The catch basin below the weir should be sized to hold the volume of water draining from the pool when the bathers get in, plus evaporative losses that happen in Dubai’s climate. The undersized catch basin will overflow when the pool is full. The return pump system shall be sized to the capacity of the catch basin and flow over the weir so that a constant water level at the edge of the overflow is maintained.

Technical specifications: Infinity pools are usually constructed on higher ground so that the catch basin can be positioned below the weir level. This situation increases the structural requirements on the shell of the pool, which has to bear the water pressure and the lateral soil pressure because of its elevated position. For every infinity pool project we undertake, Green Creation’s engineering teams design to accommodate these specific loads.

The Aesthetics of Infinity Pools in Dubai

Black, dark grey, dark blue, or deep green interior tiles give the most dramatic reflective effect. The surface of a pool appears as a mirror reflecting the sky and scenery outside. swimming pool contractors in dubai around the edges of the pool that aren’t infinity edges, such as waterfalls that fall from raised spa areas, deck jets that arc across the water, or rain curtains that surround the pool, add sound and movement that better the mood overall.

The lighting is critical when it comes to circular pools. Underwater lighting, lighting of the catch basin and weir face, and scenery lighting around the pool can all combine to make the pool an even more beautiful sight at night than by day. Green Creation’s lighting designers work particularly with the form of an infinity pool for truly spectacular results.

Green Creation’s Infinity Pool Expertise

Green Creation has designed and constructed numerous infinity pools in some of Dubai’s most desirable neighborhoods. The company’s engineering teams know exactly how to level the weir, determine the proper size of the catch basin, and design a return pump system. The company has built many infinity pools that have worked perfectly every year. This demonstrates that our teams can take engineering requirements and turn them into finished pools that function just as designed.

At Green Creation, the designers see every infinity pool as an opportunity to create a feature point for the property that complements the view. Through careful site study, identifying the best views, and designing a pool that maximizes the visual connection between the pool and the landscape, Green Creation creates infinity pools that truly transform properties and add long-term value.

Maintenance Considerations for Infinity Pools

Infinity pools have some additional considerations with regard to maintenance. The catch basin should be treated with the same care as the main pool. It is part of the water circuit, and its chemistry must be controlled. Periodic checks are to be made of the weir for algae growth and mineral deposits. The return pump system needs the same regular servicing as any pool pump. Infinity pools are serviced by Green Creation’s specially trained maintenance crews.

Infinity pools are one of the most beautiful and most difficult features in home and hotel design. It takes a remarkable deal of engineering precision, creative design vision, and skilled execution to create what they do. Green Creation is the best swimming pool design company in Dubai because we offer all three for people who want a wonderful infinity pool.
