Keeping Your Pool Equipment in Top Shape: A Guide for Dubai Pool Owners

June 27, 2026

Dubai has some of the most horrible weather conditions for outdoor sports in the world. In Dubai the summer season lasts from May to September, and the air temperature goes above 45 degrees Celsius. During the day, the sun heats the pool water. The temperature can reach between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius or more. Swimming this time of year is more of a pain than a pleasure with those high water temperatures. The weather is great from December to February, but the water in the pool can be as cold as the mid-teens, which is no fun to swim in. The solution to both problems is a heat pump that will heat the pool in the winter and cool it down in the summer. Controlling the temperature of the pool was once a luxury, but today it is a must-have for any exceptional pool building in Dubai. Dubai swimming pool maintenance companies are now increasingly adding the servicing of the temperature system to their major maintenance plans.

THE PHYSICS OF POOL TEMPERATURE IN DUBAI

To understand why pool temperature management is needed, you need to know how quickly the water temperature changes in the Dubai climate. A pool in summer without a chiller absorbs solar radiation throughout the day through its water surface. On a clear summer day, the temperature of an unshaded pool can increase several degrees. Above about 30 degrees Celsius, swimming largely loses its cooling sensation. Most swimmers perceive the water uncomfortably warm above 32 degrees. Swimming in the pool above 35 degrees is really unpleasant. The water doesn’t help you cool down from the heat of the day. In winter, it’s the reverse. During cool nights, radiation and evaporation remove heat from the surface of the pool. The pool can be 5 to 10 degrees cooler in the morning than it was in the afternoon. At 16 to 18 degrees a pool without heating may sit on a cool January morning—cold enough to deter all but the most committed swimmers.
A system for controlling pool temperature handles both conditions, maintaining the water at a comfortable swimming temperature regardless of the season.

HEAT PUMP TECHNOLOGY: HOW IT WORKS

The majority of Dubai pools use reversible heat pumps, which are single units that can operate in both heating and cooling modes. In heating mode they extract heat from the air surrounding the pool and transfer it to the water. In cooling mode, they extract heat from the water in the pool and release it back into the air. Heat pumps consume very little energy. When in heating mode, a highly efficient heat pump can put out four to six units of heat energy for every unit of electricity it consumes for the pool. The percentage is the same when cooling is on. Since electric resistance heaters produce one unit of heat for every unit of electricity used, heat pumps are far less expensive to operate.
It connects to the filtration system, and as the water passes through the unit, it passes through the heat exchanger inside. The owner sets the target temperature, and the unit maintains that temperature.

SIZING THE SYSTEM CORRECTLY

Be sure the pool temperature control system is properly sized for performance as well as economy. A heat pump that’s too small won’t be able to keep the desired temperature in extreme weather. An oversized unit spends money on capital costs and may turn on and off too often, which lowers its useful life and efficiency. The most important things for the sizing calculation are the surface area of the pool (how fast heat is lost in the winter, how fast heat is gained in the summer), the volume of the pool (how much energy is needed to change the water temperature), the target temperature range, and the ability to work in the worst possible conditions. Green Creation’s engineering team utilizes climate data for the Dubai location and the pool’s unique features to ensure each project has an appropriately sized system for controlling pool temperature.

SOLAR POOL HEATING: A SUSTAINABLE ALTERNATIVE FOR WINTER

If you want to keep the water at a certain temperature in the summer but extend your pool season through the winter months, solar heating is an attractive and environmentally friendly choice. pool maintenance companies in dubai -heating system has collectors on the roof that absorb energy from the sun and transfer it to the water in the pool as it circulates through the collectors. In the winter, the solar power in Dubai is more than enough to keep the pool at a comfortable temperature for almost no cost (aside from the small amount of electricity used by the circulation pump). Solar heating does not cool the pool down, so it is most suitable for people who don’t mind the pool being naturally hot in the summer but still want to heat it up in the winter. Green Creation installs solar pool heating with excellent collectors and appropriate flow settings for the water. The business can recommend the best size system for each pool and area.

POOL COVERS: THE SIMPLEST ENERGY-SAVING MEASURE

No matter what kind of temperature control you use, you will need a pool cover. The main way a pool loses heat at night and in cooler weather is through evaporation. A pool cover will reduce the amount of water that evaporates, so you will lose less heat overnight, and the temperature control system doesn’t have to work as hard. Automatic pool covers are popular to use these days and come in various colors and materials to match the look of your pool. Green Creation can also supply and install automatic pool covers along with the temperature control system, which makes the whole installation more efficient.

MAINTENANCE OF POOL TEMPERATURE SYSTEMS

Pool heat pumps and chillers need regular servicing to ensure they continue to perform reliably. You want to keep the heat exchanger clean. Every so often the charge of the coolant needs to be checked. You will need to check the settings on the controller as the seasons change.
Green Creation’s complete pool repair program features temperature systems that are maintained by the company’s maintenance team. Clients always monitor the performance of their system and get fast help when they need it.
