Infinity Pools in Dubai: Design, Engineering, and Why They Are Worth the Investment
June 24, 2026Infinity Pools in Dubai: Design, Engineering, and Why They Are Worth the Investment
June 24, 2026An infinity pool, also known as a disappearing edge pool, negative edge pool, or overflow pool, is one of the prettiest features a house can have. Easy to describe, hard to do: water spills over one or more edges of the pool into a catch basin hidden from view, making it look as if the pool water goes to the horizon. In Dubai, where the horizon can be the Arabian Gulf, the skyline of the desert or the city below, sparkling with lights, the result is truly amazing.
Swimming pool companies in Dubai say the demand for infinity pool designs has increased considerably in the last few years. This is because homeowners are becoming more design-conscious and because beautiful pool photos spread quickly on social media. But not all infinity pools are equal. The quality of the engineering, the accuracy of the construction, and the experience of the contractor will determine whether the finished product lives up to the promise.
In this article, we will discuss infinity pools, how they work, their cost, and why Green Creation is the best company for Dubai people who want the best results.
HOW AN INFINITY POOL ACTUALLY WORKS
The visual magic of an infinity pool is the result of a very precise hydraulic system. The pool is designed so the water level is at—or slightly above—the height of the weir wall on the infinity edge side. Water keeps flowing over this lip into an underground catch basin (or balance tank) below. The water is then pumped through the return inlets back into the pool, keeping the water level constant. The weir wall, the lip over which the water tumbles, must be built with extraordinary precision. The difference in level along the weir will be slight, and water will tend to flow preferentially over the lower part, producing an unsteady water curtain that is readily visible and aesthetically unacceptable. The wall should be perfectly level, a task that takes a fair amount of skill when working with a large pool and a material as inconsistent as concrete.
The catch basin must be sized correctly to handle the surge of water that occurs when bathers enter the pool, as well as the variation caused by evaporation and rainfall. If the catch basin is too small, it will overflow when the pool is used a lot, and if it is too big, it will waste space under the pool deck.
The recirculation pump for the catch basin shall be sized correctly for the flow over the weir. If the pump capacity is not enough, the catch basin can drain faster than water is supplied back to it. This can lead to the pump running dry. If poool cleaning company in dubai is too big, the water level in the pool will be above the weir, and the overflow effect will be lost. All of this requires a degree of hydraulic engineering skill far greater than that required for a standard pool. This scenario shows why experienced, technically competent swimming pool companies in Dubai should handle infinity pools.
SITE REQUIREMENTS FOR AN INFINITY POOL
Not every site is suitable for an infinity pool, and understanding the requirements before deciding on this design helps prevent disappointment. The most important site requirement is a view. An infinity pool works best when the apparent destination of the flowing water is an enticing view—the sea, the desert, the city, a garden, or a park. The infinity effect is diminished on a flat site surrounded by other buildings at the same level because there is nothing for the eye to connect the water surface to. Also, an infinity pool generally requires an elevation difference between the pool level and the catch basin below. This area should be either the result of the natural topography of the site or built as a raised pool structure. Where swimming pool contractors dubai is completely flat, the solution will involve building a podium or raised deck to create the necessary level differential—which adds to the cost and complexity of the scheme. Last but not least, the bearing capacity of the ground below must be carefully evaluated in relation to the structural loads imposed by an infinity pool system—the weight of the pool shell, the catch basin, the water in both, and the surrounding deck. Such considerations may mean deeper foundations on sites with soft or sandy soil.
THE COST OF AN INFINITY POOL IN DUBAI
Infinity pools in Dubai are typically 20 to 50 percent pricier than a regular pool of the same size. The reason is they need more structural engineering, more accurate construction of the weir wall and catch basin, more plumbing and pumping infrastructure, and special commissioning. For instance, a good infinity pool for a villa in Dubai can be anywhere between AED 200,000 and AED 500,000 depending on size, complexity, materials, and site conditions. swimming pool construction dubai can be higher for larger pools with many features such as built-in spas, advanced lighting systems, water features, and high-end finishes. The investment is large, but you should put it into perspective based on what it provides for you. A beautiful outdoor feature, increased value of the home, a lasting impression, and years of daily happiness are all benefits.
GREEN CREATION’S INFINITY POOL EXPERTISE
In Dubai, Green Creation is known for designing and constructing infinity pools. The company’s engineering team does the hydraulic math to make sure the weir, catch basin, and recirculation system are the correct size and shape for each project. The building crew does a great job shaping and finishing the weir wall. Green Creation employs expert leveling techniques to ensure that the weir is perfectly straight for the entire length. That’s what creates the clean, even water curtain that’s the real signature of an infinity pool. The company’s design team works with clients to maximize the infinity effect by locating the pool to capture the best possible view, selecting interior finishes to enhance and reflect the colors of the sky and landscape, and designing the coping and surround to transition smoothly and seamlessly from the edge of the pool to the view beyond.
Green Creation has completed infinity pool projects in some of the most iconic locations in Dubai, including Palm Jumeirah, Emirates Hills, Jumeirah Golf Estates, and Dubai Hills Estate.
One of the most beautiful things a home in Dubai can have is an infinity pool. But it is one that requires the best of engineering and building to deliver the results it promises. That’s the standard Green Creation installs in every infinity pool they build. Get in touch with the team at www.green-creation.com to begin your project.
